The Opportunity:
With a mission to strengthen student success and research impact through enabling information and technology services, Queen's is recruiting a Manager, Security Operations Centre (Manager).
Reporting to the Director, Service Operations, Information Technology Services, the Manager is responsible for the process that includes effective identification, assessment, and resolution of events and incidents for the university through the IT Services SIEM (Security Incident and Event Management) capability as well as items identified outside the tool.
The Manager is accountable for operationalizing Cybersecurity policies and processes and managing the associated technologies required to effectively monitor, assess, and defend the environment.
With management capabilities and a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, the Manager takes a hands-on approach to the cybersecurity incident management process while leading a staff team of 5 direct reports and handling external stakeholder relationships with vendors and service providers.
The Manager also supports the effective transition of new solutions and services, including planning and coordinating change, release management, and associated communications.
Job Description:
About You:
With technical expertise in cybersecurity operations and strong people skills, you hold a university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT Management, IT Security, or related field, with management and/or team leadership experience.
You have incident management experience with a proven ability to work through security incidents and challenges while leading others through action plans and analysis.
You are technically well-versed and optimally certified and knowledgeable in Cybersecurity Operations to be able to effectively communicate to executive leaders within the organization and handle external stakeholder relationships and you thrive in an environment committed to fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
