The City of Abbotsford's Parks Operations division is seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual to join our dynamic Urban Forestry team as the Parks Technician II (Regional Parks).


Reporting directly to the Manager, Urban Forestry and Trails, you are responsible for leading a group of employees and contractors engaged in the operation, maintenance, repair and construction of City and Regional Park's built and natural infrastructure.

You are skilled in the use of power and hand tools for the purposes of cleaning, maintenance, repair and construction of parks infrastructure systems in addition to vegetation control, grass mowing and trail re-surfacing.

Other responsibilities include assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of a preventative maintenance program and asset management system.

Your relationship building skills will allow you to foster and maintain effective connections with members of the public, contractors, City departments, NGO's and external agencies.


You have a strong understanding of WorkSafe BC regulations and are safety oriented, exercising precautions while performing your duties under mínimal supervision.

Your demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership, work direction, guidance and advice to your subordinate staff will promote a high functioning, engaged team.


To be considered for this position you must have:
Completion of a one year certificate in a Parks program, or level 2 training of a related Trades program.


Three years' experience in parks and facilities maintenance including the construction, maintenance and repair of infrastructure systems and two years supervisory experience or completion of a supervisory skills course.

BC Drivers' Licence;
Pesticide Applicator's Certificate.

Pleasure Craft Operators Certificate.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $30.68 to $36.11.
