Department Name:

Reporting to the Coordinator, Food Services, the Dietary Worker is responsible for preparing selected food items, cleaning assigned areas and equipment and providing prompt and efficient customer focused service.

The Dietary Worker is also responsible for the accurate receipt and proper storage of Food Services goods, transportation of food, dishes and small equipment, as well as washing items used in the preparation and service of food.

This position is physically demanding involving lifting, twisting, bending and standing for extended periods of time.

Rate of Pay:
$21.06 per hour - $22.72 per hour

Hours of Work:
Regular Part Time (Schedule up to 75 hours bi-weekly)

Qualifications:

Successful completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent acceptable to the Hospital
Successful completion of Food Handler Certificate (within last 5 years)
Knowledge of patient requirements with respect to prescribed diets, textures and allergies
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
Ability to perform the physically demanding duties of the position
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively and effectively with patients, public and staff
Strong organizational skills and an ability to work with mínimal supervision
Ability to work individually and as a member of a work team
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
