Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

a specific environment

  • Select appropriate methods to address specific quality improvement question
  • Explain the theory behind analytic methods
  • Choose appropriate strategies for analyzing and presenting data
  • Distinguish Improvement Science & Planned Experimentation Objectives
  • Demonstrate skills in effective written communication

Qualifications:


  • Significant experience in quality improvement in health care, preferably with leadership, implementation, patient safety and risk as well as extensive evaluation experience including corporate operations and oversight up to Board level;
  • A robust understanding of the role of quality improvement and patient safety in the Canadian healthcare system;
  • Past teaching experience related to quality improvement, patient safety and innovation, at the graduate level;
  • Prior experience in curriculum development and adult teachinglearning methods is desirable;
  • Experience working in more applied settings including for example as a preceptor is desirable;
  • Comfortable with electronic teaching tools such as Learning Management Systems (e.g., Quercus), PowerPoint, as well as online collaboration tools (Blogs, Wikkis, Discussion Boards, Webinars, or Videoconferencing).

Duties:


  • Course instructor for a professional graduate course using competencybased learning and assessment methods.
  • Must be accessible to students outside of classroom hours.
  • Available evenings and weekends.
