We have an opening for a maintenance shop labourer to support our in-house shop/mechanics with cleaning, general labour and to help with light mechanic duties.


We are looking for someone who learns quickly, loves working in a team environment and is available for a rotating 5-6-day schedule, Monday to Saturday working out of our Leaside location (located at 31 Industrial Street).


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform general labourer duties in our maintenance department
  • Handle different material within shop and outdoors, as required
  • Perform housekeeping duties
  • Operate basic hand tools and power hand tools (e.g. drills, disc grinders, etc.)
  • Operate equipment such as metal cutting saws, cutting torches, drills, material handling equipment, pneumatic tools, grinders, etc.
  • Perform other general tasks as assigned by supervisor or other management personnel

Requirements:


  • Experience with routine maintenance
  • Basic automotive or shop labourer experience
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Mechanical and Electrical abilities considered an asset
  • Welding and cutting experience considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Computer literate considered an asset
  • Basic hand tool experience.
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Must be punctual and possess a strong work ethic
  • Able to perform physical demanding work
  • Must be punctual and possess a strong work ethic

Work Conditions

  • Flexible, rotating 56day schedule, Monday to Saturday
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75lbs
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steeltoed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
  • Overtime as required
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
  • Exposure to hazards associated with the industry/trade
  • High noise levels
  • Regular exposure to conditions including heat, humidity, and dust, and cold

Salary:
$20.00-$22.00 per hour
