Salary:
PT Support Staff Grid Band 5, Starting rate $16.60hr


What you will do:


Reporting to the Manager, Advising Services, the Advising Services Support Assistant will be responsible for supporting Front Desk Operations at the North Campus.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective triage process and providing direct service to all visitors of the Centre.

The Centre houses Advising and Career Services and recruitment staff, and the incumbent will be providing front line support and customer service to students, employers, staff and visitors regarding all of these service areas.

In addition, the incumbent provides logistic and administrative support to major intervention initiatives within Advising Services, specifically with Pre-Arrival Advising (July/August & November/December), and Outreach initiatives (September, November, January).


Key Duties

May provide some of the following clerical duties:

  • Provides logistic and administrative support to major intervention initiatives within Advising Services, specifically with Pre-Arrival Advising (July/August & November/December), and Outreach initiatives (September, November, January).
  • Provide overlapping frontline support to a broad range of inquiries and initiatives at the Centre, including student advising involved in exploring academic pathways, career exploration, program fit and course registration.
  • Be knowledgeable about other service areas, including all Transition & Academic Support (TAS) services in a shared frontdesk space.
  • Develop and maintain an effective triage process that includes making appropriate referrals to the Centre and/or Humber resources.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance regarding a range of college and academic program information.
  • Assist and direct clients in navigating the advising and learning resource websites to obtain information regarding academic support services.
  • Assist in booking/scheduling appointments for clients within three service schedules daytime advising, career development, and evening career advancement based on the client's need and demographic.
  • Provide students with technical assistance to navigate online scheduling and learning resource hubs
  • WC Online, Career Connect and Upswing, assisting with retrieving job postings, requesting appointments, exploring career resources.
  • Collect data, create and maintain spreadsheets, and accurately compile and prepare information for various projects, reports, meetings, and presentations
  • Handle sensitive and highly confidential information and communicate with prospective, current and graduated students, as well as community members
  • Provide support and assistance for recruitment and learning services events including, Open House, Careers/PALS monthly events and Orientation Service Fairs
  • Ensure evening front desk coverage for Career Advancement Services (CAS) including, performing related duties and projects assigned by their Manager or the advisor(s)
  • Provides accurate and helpful resources to support prospective students and families with registration for Recruitment Campus Tours when needed
  • During peak times, respond to a high volume of requests in person and via phone related to academic, career, registration and financial aid inquiries
  • Work on various assignment
