Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Development, the Co-op, Corporate Development will work with the broader Corporate Development team to support the construction of, and maintenance of financial models used to analyze and optimize capital allocation decisions, assess financing alternatives, drive improved financial results, and support analysis of M&A opportunities.

Duties will vary to support other ad-hoc initiatives as assigned.


To provide more capacity for an ever-growing mandate for corporate development to support redevelopment projects, M&A, financings, strategic modelling and analysis and all other financial analysis.


This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario and will have flexibility for both remote and in-office work based on our hybrid work model.

Accountabilities

  • Participate in the construction of financial models and leverage these tools to support strategic decisions related to capital allocation, financing alternatives, real estate development and other investment opportunities.
  • Support the enhancement and maintenance of the corporate strategy framework, which offers a forwardlooking perspective for strategic planning; perform scenario analysis in support of ad hoc projects.
  • Assist in the due diligence process on M&A opportunities.
  • Work crossfunctionally to conduct scenario based financial modelling.
  • Contribute to development of executive and board level reporting.
  • Ensure consistent methodology is used in modelling related to ad hoc strategic initiatives and facilitate integration into the longterm corporate strategy model when appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant experience acquired in investment banking, private equity, or other similar corporate finance role (e.g., accounting firm transaction advisory practice).
  • Working towards a University Degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Accounting, or businessrelated discipline
  • Enrollment in CFA, CBV, CPA or MBA programs is an asset.
  • Understanding of valuation principles in the context of a multiline of business public company environment, including familiarity with equity research and investor relations
  • Proficient in using Excel and capable of handling and organizing extensive data sets to conduct dynamic scenario analysis; understanding of macros and VBA is an asset.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; can see the "big picture" in a complex business environment.
  • Nicetohaves: Experience building three statement financial models; experience working with Power BI and/or Workday.
  • Proven ability to communicate financial information to nonfinance business partners in a manner that can derive actionable insights.
  • Ability to communicate written/verbal recommendations clearly and confidently to senior executives.
  • Highly driven with exceptionally strong work ethic
  • Comfortable operating in a matrix management structure
