The Office of the Registrar provides a number of services to both prospective and current students and is the primary information source on enrolment, convocation ceremonies and important student dates and events throughout the year.
Student Services, Aid & Awards, Student Recruitment, Undergraduate Admissions, Student Records & Systems, Scheduling & Examinations, Student Communications and Central RO Administration.
This supportive and dynamic team works together to provide assistance to students from their initial recruitment contact with McMaster until they graduate.
Project Description
The Student Recruitment department plays a crucial role in promoting and supporting the recruitment strategy in the Office of the Registrar.
The team develops and maintains relationships with prospective undergraduate students and their influencers, such as parents, educators, and guidance counselors.
Representing McMaster in various recruiting contexts from large-scale events to one-on-one interactions with students, the recruitment team identifies and understands relevant domestic and international demographic and market trends, nurtures relationships and fosters student success as they guide and assist applicants through their recruitment journey.
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Registrar, Undergraduate Student Recruitment. The schedule for this role is 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.General Description
Under the direction of the Senior Associate Registrar, Recruitment, this role is responsible for the ongoing development, implementation, assessment and evaluation of a comprehensive and integrated centralized student recruitment strategy, and ongoing qualitative and quantitative research.
The incumbent is analytical, proactive, and creative It requires a strategic thinker who can push to expand and grow our recruitment efforts both domestically and internationally and works collaboratively with our campus partners to support their recruitment efforts.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Recommend fullcycle domestic and international undergraduate recruitment strategic plans that align with the University priorities, as well as competitor analyses and market reports to guide tactical recruitment efforts; create and implement systems to define and measure the effectiveness and impact of programs.
- Continuously look for ways to enhance the university's centralized undergraduate recruitment efforts.
- Consult and collaborate with Faculties and campus partners in identifying, recommending, and implementing new Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) strategies for all outreach and recruitment activities.
- Lead and manage all aspects related to human resources, including assignment of work, hiring, training, performance management, and professional development of all direct reports; act as a first point of contact for all staff and labour related issues in the unit.
- Lead and manage the development of communication plans for all student recruitment projects, engagement with 50,000+ applicants and their influencers. The Assistant Registrar would be expected to possess communication expertise and develop communication strategies.
Strategic Recruitment Management
- Co-Develop and oversee the execution of the centrally coordinated recruitment strategy and ensure both domestic and international recruitment teams work towards meeting the university enrolment target. The Assistant Registrar will be empowered to make key decisions throughout the process, and lead recruitment management to project completion, collaborating with the Senior Associate Registrar for high priority items.

- Oversee a team which develops and delivers a full range of recruitment programs designed to inform, educate, and excite students about McMaster. For example, provide leadership to the team to plan and execute inperson and virtual events that are interactive, engaging, and highly rated by attendees; develop an annual calendar of events and activities that are tied to a strategic plan.
