Consumer Protection BC is hiring a Technical Analyst

A day in the life:

After stopping at a local Uptown Shopping Centre coffee shop, you head into the office ready for a day of supporting your colleagues and their technological needs.

As the organization's primary information technology support person, you know the day will be busy with resolving priority issues logged in the ticketing system and responding in real time to system bugs as they come up.

First up in the queue - a new employee is starting in one week.

Your task is to start the set-up process by enabling them as a user in the organization's various internal systems, including a CRM and Microsoft Office 365.

You note the specific details and requirements the manager has communicated, making a note to follow up with the manager today on something that wasn't clear.

You then start gathering equipment the new employee will need to have a successful start with the organization - laptops, monitors, keyboard, headset.

While you're setting up their office space, your Manager asks you to help an employee that's been locked out of their system - passwords can be hard to remember

The afternoon is spent reviewing a new contractor agreement, ensuring that what the organization needs is clearly laid out in the scope of work the contractor is proposing.

You have some concerns, and discuss those with your Manager, along with a few recommendations on what could be added to the contract language to ensure deliverables are achieved.

Before you head out for the day, you take a peek at the priority tasks coming up for the next day.

It looks like you'll spend the day working from home and clearing out IT support tasks to help everyone succeed in their work.

Who you are:

  • A team player, with a positive attitude and a desire to work cooperatively with others to achieve group and organizational goals.
  • A true service provider focused on identifying and serving the needs of users, with a willingness to thrive in and embrace a flexible work environment that is prone to rapid change
  • An effective communicator, with the ability to work with diverse users with varying ITrelated knowledge

What you will be doing:

  • Providing tier 1, 2 and 3 technical supports to Consumer Protection BC employees by maintaining, tracking and responding to issues directly from colleagues or automated ticketing system
  • Configuring, installing and maintaining multiplatform hardware and software on Consumer Protection BC networks, laptops, workstations and servers
  • Working with suppliers/contractors to ensure all agreed upon service levels/deliverables have been achieved

We are looking for people who have:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a related field (i.e. computer science, information systems) and/or several years related experience and/or a combination of formal training and experience
  • Experience working with a wide range of desktop and network software and hardware
  • A solid understanding of client/server infrastructure software and hardware configurations, and problem resolution methodologies, techniques, and processes
  • Watch our short video from your (potential) boss to help you decide if we are right for each other
  • Learn more about our corporate values and our perks and benefits
  • Read the "The Right Fit", our HR & Culture blog to find out more about us and get tips to ace your interview
