What we seek:

OCHC is currently seeking a dedicated Access Worker Student to join and provide support to the Asset Management team.

Under the guidance of the Director, Project Implementation, the Access Worker Student will ensure lawful access to OCH buildings and tenant units for various needs across the portfolio.

Providing a safe and comfortable place for our tenants to call home is a main priority of our organization.

As the Access Worker Student,
you will be an essential part of our objective
to keep our communities safe by providing lawful access to tenant rental units** in accordance with policy and procedure.


As an Access Worker Student, some of the things you will do include:

  • Ensure the proper handling and security of building and unit keys.
  • Liaise with contractors on arrival and departure times.
  • Open building/unit doors and secure doors upon exit/completion of work or inspection.
  • Delivery of written notices to tenants for lawful entry to rental units.
  • Ensure the completion of required documentation, including for unit access, inspections, and maintenance.
  • Promptly report all workplace accidents or incidents and unusual or dangerous work conditions.

As an Access Worker Student, you can look forward to:

What you bring:


Education & Experience:


  • Completion of a minimum Grade 10 or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) months related experience, including experience providing customer service in challenging environments.
  • Understanding of the diverse needs, abilities and social, economic, cultural, and other factors present in OCH tenant communities.
  • Knowledge of MS Suite and other standard corporate software.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, statutory requirements, policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to area of work.

Skills and abilities:


  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Ability to deliver strong customer service and contribute to good public relations.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Effective organization and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate basic hand tools and equipment such as ladders in a safe manner.
  • Oral fluency and reading and writing abilities in English is required.
  • Oral fluency and reading and writing abilities in French is an asset.

Other requirements:


  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • Valid "G" driver's license and use of a vehicle for business purposes
  • Satisfactory Driver's Abstract

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) on-site position.
