Reporting to the Senior Hazardous Materials Specialist, this position will be responsible for the development and delivery of
Corporate programs, policies and procedures for the transportation of dangerous goods (surface). They will also provide assistance
with other hazardous materials programs including releases and PCB management, in order to support Manitoba Hydro's
compliance with safety, health and environmental legislation.

Responsible for providing technical guidance, training and recommendations with respect to transportation of dangerous goods.
Interacts with employees, provincial and federal officials, customers and suppliers of goods and services.
Develop and implement training materials and programs including handbooks, codes of practice and similar technical guidance
documents.


_ Responsibilities:
_


  • Provide leadership and technical guidance as the Corporate expert and authority on Transportation of Dangerous Goods
(surface).

  • Maintains expert knowledge of current legislation relating to transportation of dangerous goods including Transportation of
Dangerous Goods Act and Regulation (Surface TDG).

  • Develop and deliver legislated training and support materials to employees for transportation of dangerous goods by road, air,
marine and rail.

  • Provide technical guidance to line departments regarding the labeling, packaging, documentation and transportation of
dangerous goods by air, road, marine and rail.

  • Support the Senior Hazardous Materials Specialist on corporate environmental and safety programs related to hazardous
materials management, including Prevention and Response to Hazardous Materials Releases, the Corporate Hazardous
Waste Management Program and the Petroleum Product Storage Tank Systems Program.

  • Act as the primary back up to the Senior Hazardous Materials Specialist by providing technical assistance regarding chemical
releases and hazardous waste management.

  • Participate in key Corporate working groups, including the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Stakeholder Group, Area Spill
Response Coordinators Network Committee as well as others related to hazardous materials management.

  • Carry out special assignments regarding workplace safety, health and environmental protection issues and other related
duties as assigned.

  • Participate in the Corporate Incident reporting oncall system and be registered with CANUTEC as a primary contact for the
Corporate Dangerous Goods program.
