Technology and Marketing teams are spearheading initiatives such as a new eCommerce platform, Data Lake, CRM & ERP, and other future-focused Hotel and Restaurant technologies.


Opportunity Northland is looking for a Reporting Analyst who will be a part of our Data & Analytics team and play a key role in executing the overall data visualization strategy. They will be responsible for designing, developing, managing, and supporting the dashboards/reports using Power BI, emphasizing data quality and visualization principles/standards.


They will be required to collaborate with our business and technical teams in understanding the business problem and compile essential data into interactive visualizations that are easy to understand and interpret.

They will also contribute directly to developing and enhancing data & analytics-related processes and procedures.

This position is based in Vancouver, Canada and will report to the Director, Project Delivery.

They will work closely with the IT, Finance, Marketing, and other internal departments to power insight and provide immersive dashboards to make impactful data-driven decisions.


Responsibilities:


  • Understand, translate and present business data through informative Power BI visuals and reports while designing efficient data models to transform the data into meaningful insights.
  • Performs data analysis for verifying and evaluating data requirements, profiling for data quality, cleansing, modelling and prepping the data for visualizations.
  • Analyze, design, deploy, troubleshoot and support all aspects of refreshing data sources, scheduling, data, reports and access for Power BI dashboards/reports.
  • Works closely with the business and technical teams from the requirements phase by building initial sketches/prototypes to deploying the visualization reports in production systems and participating in the enhancements over time for performance improvements and suggestions.
  • Continually monitors and verifies the data quality of visualization reports and develops KPI's/alerts.
  • Create plans for testing dashboards & reports, from unit to integration and user acceptance testing.
  • Create technical and other supporting documentation, such as metadata, data modelling and data lineage information concerning the dashboards/reports.
  • Performs administrative activities as required, including monitoring the platform, data and dashboards security, roles, access and authentications.
  • Proactively researches, consults, and recommends best practices, new functionalities and capabilities in Power BI, always seeking continuous improvement.
  • Partners with the Project delivery team to establish enterpriselevel reporting standards, processes and support models.

Skills & Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum three years of handson experience in designing, modelling and building interactive dashboards with Power BI, including writing complex DAX and SQL queries and implementing rowlevel securities.
  • Indepth understanding of Microsoft Power BI ecosystem, Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) and dimensional data modelling.
  • Expertise working with Excel, SQL Server and Microsoft Azure Data services
  • Advanced understanding of Data Management, Business Intelligence and Analytics concepts, including ETL, Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Data Marts, Data Stores and cubes; Data Profiling, Data Quality, Data Governance, Master Data Management & Metadata Management.
  • Creative thinker with excellent analytical thinking, problemsolving skills, and attention to detail
  • Able to multitask and prioritize workload
  • Deep passion for data visualization and user experience design
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present information to technical and nontechnical stakeholders
  • Experience in the hospitality and travel industry preferred
