Reporting to the Director - Professional Practice, the Manager, Regulatory Affairs and Spiritual Care, will be responsible for the dual portfolios.

In partnership with Clinical Program Leaders and Human Resources, the incumbent will provide leadership, coordination, mentorship and support to drive practice excellence and professional practice improvements across Trillium Health Partners.

This is a key role at THP and is responsible for maintaining relationships with various regulatory colleges governing the practice of regulated healthcare professionals across THP.


The Manager is also responsible and accountable for Spiritual Care Services ensuring that patients, their families, staff, physicians and volunteers at Trillium Health Partners have access to quality, professional spiritual care which respects the diverse backgrounds of all who we serve.


Key Responsibilities:

- **
_ Regulatory Affairs_

  • Keep informed of any changes to legislative and practice standards of the various regulatory colleges (i.e. College of Nurses of Ontario, College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario) and advise on how best to uptake these changes at THP
  • Lead the writing and submission of mandatory reports to regulatory colleges
  • Provide coaching and support to regulated health care professionals and teams at THP as it pertains to mandatory reporting
  • Maintain relationships with the various (over 20) Regulatory /Professional Colleges and Associations in Ontario and ensure that mandatory reports and information is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Assess and understand organizational risks as they pertain to mandatory reports
  • Partner closely with Human Resources and Clinical Program Services to facilitate alignment and coordination of report submissions.
  • Work collaboratively with managers in the professional practice department to advance practice excellence at THP

_ Spiritual Care_

  • Lead Spiritual Care staff at all sites of Trillium Health Partners and continue to build and maintain a successful professional team
  • Identify performance indicators and quality improvement opportunities pertaining to Regulatory Compliance and for Spiritual Care Services
  • Build and mentor a diverse team of Spiritual Care Visitors for each site
  • Work with community faith group leaders to build and maintain an effective relationship with the community
  • Provide oversight for processes to support registered community clergy, parish visitors and spiritual care visitors
  • Coordinate Human Resources and budgetary planning processes to ensure leadership and financial accountability
  • Provide practice support for assessment and evaluation of current state practice environments.

Qualifications:


  • Regulated Health Professional in good standing with their college is required
  • Previous experience in healthcare industry leadership as a manager (5+ Years) required;
  • A master's degree in a clinical discipline, or in health;
  • Demonstrated professional practice leadership;
  • Strong knowledge of Regulatory Standards, including but not limited to Regulated Health Professions Act, Public Hospitals Act
  • Strong understanding of the function of regulatory bodies and requirements for registration
  • Strong knowledge of Standards of Practice of the various regulated health professional roles (i.e. College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice)
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and provide feedback to point of care staff, colleagues, and leaders
  • Experience in working with regulatory colleges and understanding of the investigation and reporting process
  • Strong understanding of organizational risks as they pertain to practice regulations and scope of practices, to decrease patient safety risks
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically plan, implement, and evaluate new programs and processes
  • Knowledge of Patient and Family-Centred Care principles is required;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills combined with the ability to work collaboratively within and across
