- Provide Clinical Leadership for the Depot and Clozapine Clinic
- Manage referrals, including collaboration with referring physicians, care teams, patients, and pharmacies.
- Oversee the proper storage and administration of medications.
- Maintain inventory of stock medication
- In collaboration with team, create and maintain Depot Clinic schedule.
- Create an environment that supports and advances professional practice, teamwork and communication through mentoring and role modeling the application of mental health clinical knowledge.
- Manage, organize, and prioritize day-to-day patient care activities, staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization.
- Round, monitor and address patient and family satisfaction with care.
- In collaboration with the manager, facilitate team rounds and effective work processes.
- In collaboration with program Educators & Manager, facilitate staff orientation and identify staff learning needs and appropriate resources.
- Participate in hiring, orientation, and performance evaluation of staff.
- In collaboration with manager & program leadership, support THP & program strategic plan
- Liaise with members of inter-professional team to ensure excellence in patient care.
- Complete chart reviews and audits to ensure adherence and compliance to standards of care.
- Plan, coordinate and case conferences as required.
- Monitor and address health and safety inspections.
- Monitor the quality of patient care through daily huddles and monitoring of key quality metrics on the Quality Board
- Assist in the development of effective interpersonal relationships among the team through coaching, mentoring, and facilitating difficult conversations.
- Provide direct patient care in Depot Clinic and Clozapine Clinic
- Facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation health teaching sessions for patients followed by the clinics
- Provide Clinical Leader coverage if needed for vacation/sick time coverage.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Educator(s) and support the implementation of new educational initiatives for staff
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required
- Minimum 1 year of Mental Health Acute Care experience required
- Current CPR and BSL certificate required
- Minimum five years Mental Health experience required
- Previous formal or informal leadership experience an asset
- Experience with outpatient mental health care preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent communication, facilitation, critical-thinking and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with all members of the team
- Ability to provide leadership to projects and accomplish established goals
- Experience in developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated commitment to best practice and quality improvement
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience with clozapine treatment protocols
- Experience with venipuncture
- Sound working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Public Hospital Act, Long term Care Act, Substitute decisions act, and the Regulated Health professions Act required.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands, positive work and attendance record, required
- Current Registration as a Registered Nurse and membership in good standings with the College of Nurses
