Who we are:


Based in Tsawwassen since 1988 our Pure Construction Management business has grown to encompass projects valued from $1 million to $100 million.

With an annual construction volume of $150 million we typically have 20 to 30 projects in various stages of construction with a total construction value of $500 million in progress and a similar amount in development.


What we are looking for:


An individual who will lead, manage, and hold our support services staff accountable for supporting our project teams in providing our clients the best Construction Management services possible.

As the Manager of Support Services, you will be a resourceful, intelligent, confident, and dedicated professional who is committed to building our clients trust through clarity and integrity.

Responsibilities:


  • Annual 5 5 5's and quarterly conversations with all direct reports. Include second person (VP, Director, PM, COO) in all 5 5 5's and any quarterly conversation where support is required.
  • Participate in support staff hiring, coordination and implementation of onboarding and training program
  • Coordinate and lead the monthly support services Level 10 Meeting where all support staff meet to discuss opportunities and issue that could impact all support services team members.
  • Participate in operations Level 10 Meeting where team members review and discuss project specific, opportunities and issues to resolve for the greater good of the team as well as staff capacities to ensure continuity throughout the operations departments.
  • As a member of the operations team, manage support staff capacity by reviewing and updating resource management software, allocating new projects, reallocating projects where appropriate and managing the start up and transition where applicable.
  • Review & approve support staff timesheets, comparing to anticipated hours and investigating where there are large variances.
  • Monitor, review, and approve all critical support staff activities.
  • Complete project audits for service continuity on regular basis including the review of documents.
  • Be a lean advocate by identifying opportunities for process improvements and designing and implementing new systems to reflect those opportunities.
  • Coordinate support staff career development programs to ensure that we are supporting our staff in their career development while keeping this development in line with Unitech's future goals. Review the progress of this career development at a minimum once yearly during the 5 5 5 but more often if necessary.
  • Coordinate and participate in all support team member related meetings that require conflict and dispute resolution support. Be a resource to not only the support staff but all staff in problem solving activities.
  • Support services back up including all critical expectations and tasks defined on the Project Coordinator Job Description.
  • Support the Project Manager training program by reviewing and training Project Managers on the Support Services role, responsibilities, and tasks.

Other Functions:


  • Scheduling group meetings, maintaining calendars, doing research, and creating reports where appropriate
  • Assist Support Team with project related accommodation, travel & event arrangement.
  • Assist IT with maintaining files for completed projects.
  • Assist Reception with maintaining office supplies and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment)

Qualifications:


  • 210 years experience managing staff in a similar position
  • Post secondary education in a business administration, communication, or related field an asset.
  • Exemplary English skills, both verbal and written, with strong analytical, mathematical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with a serviceoriented attitude, maturity, and diplomacy under stressful situations with constant interruption.
  • Committed to maintaining mutually respectful relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, responsibilities, and priorities.
  • Proficient with computers, calculators, multifunctional processing units, multi line telephone systems and faxes.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and skills in keyboarding.
