YMCA Camp Pine Crest, Torrance, Ontario (Transportation to camp is available at the beginning and end of the summer)


Work Hours:
Must be available to work 6 days a week between Monday - Sunday, with days off predetermined by supervisor

YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focussed programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA.

Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq.

ft. of dock, and has 60 buildings.


Counselling Supervisors are responsible for the overall care of camp participants by providing support and supervision to the Counselling/MACK Team.

They are directly involved in daily cabin programming for those that they supervise and will provide mentoring and coaching to the counselling team to ensure that all programming is high quality and age-appropriate.

They are expected to possess an understanding of providing ongoing feedback to those that they supervise in constructive and appropriate ways.

Counselling Supervisors will work closely with other departments of camp to communicate common challenges and ensure camper care is paramount.

In case of escalated participant incidents or concerns, the Counselling Supervisors step in to assist counselling staff, provide coaching and guidance and communicate with parents and families as necessary to resolve the issue.


In this role, you will:


  • Oversee the care and wellbeing of campers within their group, including on outtrips.
  • Plan and facilitate section nights and camper cabin programs within their group.
  • Help manage any escalating camper conflicts that might arise within their group.
  • Organize, distribute, and collect Camper Experience Forms, Parent Letters, Post Cards, and Birthday Cards.
  • Actively supervise assigned Counsellors and MACKs throughout the summer by regularly engaging in their programming.
  • Supervisory duties include providing leadership to the camp staff team by training, coaching, motivating, monitoring performance, and providing mid and endofsummer performance appraisals to ensure staff meet the expectations of their role and achieve camp objectives.
  • Continuously build relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You bring:


  • Minimum 19 years of age by the start of contract
  • Current NLS by first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of your contract
  • Minimum 2 years of counselling or directly translatable experience working with children and youth required
  • G Class driver's license, 21 years of age for insurance purposes preferred
  • ACCT Level 2 Ropes certification (Asset)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be authorized to work full time hours
  • Ability to work effectively with others and independently to achieve optimal collective results
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both inexperienced and seasoned staff
  • Ability to deliver feedback in a timely, professional, and constructive manner

  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays required
