What is Travel for Credit?

Travel for Credit is a partnership between Limestone District School Board and EF Educational Tours Canada. Students will earn one credit through in-person or virtual classroom learning and a week of exciting, experiential travel.

EF Tours guides students to must-see Canadian and international destinations to expand their course knowledge and the teacher accompanies the class on this trip.

When does the course run?

The Careers/Civics Travel for Credit online course runs from Tuesday July 2nd to Friday July 26th, 2024.

All instruction is online except for the following days, July 8-15 which are travel days for both the students and the teacher.

SUMMER SESSION TRAVEL FOR CREDIT / E-SCHOOL POSITIONS ARE BEING OFFERED AS FOLLOWS:1 section of CHV 2O (Civics) / GLC 2O (Careers) en Français


Applications are being accepted from interested staff currently employed by the Limestone District School Board for Secondary Summer Session Travel for Credit / e-Learning teaching positions.

These positions will run from Tuesday, July 2nd to Friday July 26th.

Teachers will be paid for 110 hours - flexible hours will be required due to the on-line nature of the Travel for Credit / e-learning format.

TRAVEL FOR CREDIT / E-LEARNING COURSES FOR SUMMER SESSIONS REQUIRE:

QUALIFICATIONS:


FSL (French as a Second Language)

Qualifications:

Required for teaching in the French language section.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Instruction, Evaluation, and Reporting:

Provide instruction, evaluate student performance, and report on the course curriculum during both pre-trip and post-trip student engagement.

Continuously engage with students throughout travel days to respective destinations.


Online Interaction:

Pre and post trip days involve online interactions with students. Teachers will communicate, evaluate, and provide feedback on student work submitted during these days.


Availability:

Teachers must be available for all course dates.


D2L Management:

Responsible for managing the D2L (Desire2Learn) shell for assignment submission, marking, and student communication.


Experiential Learning:

Engage students in a unique experiential learning opportunity.

Deliver the D2L-based and experiential-based prepared curriculum, leveraging connections within each course's respective destinations.


Supervision:
Group Leader


Supervise the group at all times on tour: The teacher (Group Leader) or a designated Chaperone, must accompany the group at all times, including during meals, sightseeing excursions and optional excursions on tour. The teacher will coordinate with the Principal of Summer Session regarding any student safety/discipline issues.


Emergency Support:

On-call for evening emergency situations to assist EF Tour staff if required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Valid Passport:
Must have a valid passport.


Enthusiastic Traveler:
A passion for travel and an enthusiastic approach to exploring new destinations.


Course Offerings:

The number of course sections offered is determined by the number of registered participants, in cooperation with the partner organization, EF Tours.


4. ADDITIONAL


RESPONSIBILITIES:


E-learning instructors for Summer Session are required to:

Digital Classroom Setup:

Ensure the digital classroom is prepared and accessible for students before the start of the course (by July 2nd).


Daily Progress Updates:
Regularly update student progress within the PRISM e-learning platform.


Student Interaction:
Maintain consistent correspondence and interaction with students.


Office Hours:
Set designated office hours for live student interaction.


Morning Video Briefings:

Teacher will outline student expectations for each day ideally by preparing a brief video each morning within the Brightspace classroom space.


Brightspace Calendar:
Utilize the Brightspace course calendar for scheduling and organization.


Parent/Guardian Communication:
Contact parents or guardians when a student is absent.

Confirmation of possessing a current passport

A current resume outlining your experience and key accomplishments

A covering letter clearly outlining how your qualifications and experience relate to the position

A copy of your current Certificate of Qualifications from the Ontari
