Position Summary:


Reporting to the Associate Director, Prospect Management, Research & Records, Advancement Services, the Information, System and Business Analyst will be responsible for developing, enhancing, implementing, and maintaining information assets in the organization that support the broader functions of the Advancement and External Relations (AER) teams.

The job requires a strong technical skillset to cover support for the implementation of new technological solutions in AER.

A strong programming background is also necessary to facilitate the business improvement process and data analytics components of the job from VBA scripting to SQL querying.

This position directly supports all Advancement teams' reporting needs and works closely with the Development Reporting Analyst II to deliver on those data needs.

The role works directly with the University's Privacy Office and ICT.


The position will also work closely with all AER teams and the wider university departments to analyze and develop flexible and consistently executable department wide training, onboarding and file management strategies and special projects/business improvement processes.

Strong communication skills are necessary to facilitate, diagnose, and formulate solutions to the business process/data needs and being able to clearly articulate solutions is essential to finding effective and efficient solutions to business/workflows.

This role will support the department in any/all activities including gifts, events, data management, data analytics, records management, and engagement opportunities.


Accountabilities:


  • Lead department data governance to help rationalize department data and records. Implement a retention schedule in line with wider university file retention policies. Bring department records practices in line with industry best standards.
  • Design and implement an AER wide training and onboarding strategy for Advancement Services areas of responsibility, (AER operations, Banner, SharePoint, ICT support, Finance requirements, Gift and Biographical data management, Prospect Research)
  • Optimize the department's utilization of SharePoint 365. Lead a discovery of team needs and develop the appropriate structure, documentation, training, implementation and maintenance plan.
  • Analyze and improve on existing AER business processes including gift processing and report generation/analysis/output
  • Maintain and develop improvements for the Alumni Engagement Index (AEI) including benchmarking against and researching what other Canadian universities are doing
  • Maintain, improve, and develop a broad information management strategy that help drives fuel the department's data driven decision making processes.
  • Improve departmental use of SharePoint including power automate/apps tools to enhance existing business processes or to build new ones as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Banner/iModules Connector and develop other data integration and data quality systems. This includes managing corresponding support tickets between ICT, iModules, and Ellucian.
  • Design, develop, validate, document and provide reports as assigned in a timely manner in support of all programs within AER;
  • Understand and utilize a variety of software to design adhoc reports including Cognos 11 and Microsoft Office Suite;
