A large and complex organization, eHealth is comprised of 30+ clinical and non-clinical program (service) areas that all work together to support health care providers and teams across the province in delivering the best possible care to patients, providers, citizens, and health system users.

Programs range from primary care to acute care, and includes laboratories, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics.

Additional programs that also support patient care and information, include Virtual Care, the MySaskHealthRecord, and the Provincial Electronic Health Record.

eHealth is also responsible for the administration of various pieces of legislation to manage the registration of/changes to all vital event records (e.g. birth, marriage, death, etc.), registration of legal name changes, registration of adoptions, and for maintaining the provincial health registry for health services eligibility and distribution of health services cards.


The eHealth teams engage directly with health system partners and other stakeholders both provincially and federally to ensure all services are delivered efficiently and effectively.


About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Technology and IT Shared Services, the Business Planner oversees the IT strategic planning process.

This position works with internal and external teams across the province to ensure the services we provide fit with the overall strategic direction of eHealth and meet or exceed business requirements.

This position facilitates the development of strategies, plans, roadmaps and business cases in collaboration with eHealth and its partners.


What are we looking for?

Specific responsibilities include:


  • Strategic planning and coordination of service catalog lifecycle and processes, including managing all aspects of the planning cycle (from procurement to disposal), with feasibility evaluations, analysis, strategic use of human resources, budget preparation for IT Operations, and performance focused reporting
  • Coordination of project, priorities and deliverables across IT Shared Services, focusing on the service catalog lifecycle
  • Alignment of resources and commitments across eHealth and health system priorities
  • Creating and packaging documentation, presentations, information and decision items for various audiences
  • Coordination and support for business process improvement initiatives
  • Coordination of the development and implementation of metrics and KPIs for department

Experience & Qualifications

Specific qualities are as follows:


  • Able to communicate complex issues in an effective manner to all levels in the organization, such as senior leaders, clinicians, frontline staff, etc
  • Strong planning, conceptual, analytical, research and project management skills
  • A strong understanding of budgets and business case financials
  • Able to navigate and build strong relationships in a large, complex multienterprise environment that includes customers with challenging and/or competing needs
  • A strong leader who empowers those around them to excel, with demonstrated abilities to capture strategic needs and suitably influence across the service landscape
  • Ability to integrate objectives, industry trends, technology impacts, product benefits, stakeholder perception, and technology issues to provide leadership on establishing strategic long term direction
  • A team player with strong initiative who can establish personal goals and take responsibility for meeting them within defined timelines
  • A conceptual thinker with excellent communication, facilitation, leadership and consulting skills
  • Customer service driven, within a shared services environment
  • Certification in project management (PMP), business analysis (CBAP), business relationship management (BRMP), ITIL, and COBIT are considered assets
  • Knowledge of IT financials, OCM, CMDB, ITAM, and IT Architecture are considered assets.
