Position Summary


Working under the direction of the Care Care Quality and Innovation Manager, the Innovation Specialist will lead quality improvement activities focused on acute oncology and patient flow, to ensure safe, high quality care.


Duties
As member of the Cancer Care Quality and Innovation Team the Innovation Specialist will be the ambassador for quality improvement and implementation science and will be the pivotal Lead for the following accountabilities:

  • To advance the Cancer Program strategy with enhanced infrastructure, data and advancement of quality improvement projects focused on acute oncology
  • To assist in the selection, analysis and reporting of qualityrelated performance indicators to monitor the program, and/or unit level performance to ensure alignment with strategic direction.
  • To manage several projects focused on innovation in care and initiatives designed to promote quality improvement on a programwide and local, patient care unit scale
  • To lead change in models of care to support care delivery for the future
  • To complete quality audits, observations and chart reviews to identify issues and facilitate audit and feedback and change in practice
  • To provide mentorship, leadership, guidance, and planning for quality initiatives through advocating for clinical standardization
  • To work with the CQIN Manager, Clinic/Unit Managers/Directors, Disease Site Leaders and front line staff to integrate clinical best practices, legislative requirements and policies into quality priorities
  • To participate in the relevant Committees and administrative tasks to advance quality improvement within the Program; preparation of QI Project Charters

Qualifications:


  • Completion of a Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of 68 years practical and related experience in the healthcare field
  • Previous experience in quality, safety and performance improvement methods is required
  • Experience leading Quality Improvement initiatives within healthcare is required
  • Project management experience required
  • Ability to mentor and coach others on the quality improvement methodologies for successful outcomes
  • Experience working with physicians and other clinicians is required
  • Project planning, with QI project charters and Implementation experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating a major change initiative in a health care environment
  • Demonstrated change management skills (consulting, negotiating, influencing)
  • Knowledge of hospital organizational structure and processes preferred
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders is required
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a deadlinedriven environment
  • Analytical ability with excellent attention to details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
