YMCA Northern Alberta is currently seeking Aquatics Day Camp Coordinators who will be responsible for providing leadership and creating a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for campers, staff, and volunteers.
As an Aquatics Day Camp Counsellor, you will utilize your passion and aquatics qualifications to collaborate with other counsellors, ensuring an unforgettable summer experience for campers and peers.
Joining as a coordinator offers various advantages, including a leadership training program and a comprehensive one-week training session with counsellors before camp commences. You will be involved in coaching on behavior management, program design, team communication, and collaboration.
This role provides a fantastic opportunity for individuals interested in honing their leadership skills under the guidance of experienced supervisors.
Position Responsibilities- Prepare day camp rosters and support in distributing camp brochures or marketing materials.
- Assist Lead Coordinators in recruiting, training, coaching, and supervising camp staff and volunteers.
- Organize guest speakers or field trips weekly, communicate schedules, and arrange travel for staff and campers.
- Implement and evaluate camp activities based on established frameworks.
- Lead program planning sessions and assess day camp programs.
- Collaborate with Aquatic Supervisor when necessary.
- Lifesaving Swim Instructor/Water Safety Instructor/YMCA Swim Instructor certification.
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
- National Lifeguard Pool, AEC, O2 Administration certification is beneficial.
- Previous experience in Aquatics Leadership is an asset.
- High school diploma or pursuing postsecondary education related to children and youth (Recreation, Child Studies, Education, Physical Education, etc.).

In-person Training Starting June 24:
