Role Responsibilities:


The Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade has an exciting opportunity and is looking for an Issues Coordinator to join our team.


The Issues Coordinator provides leadership and serves as the main contact for the coordination and review of requests flowing through the ADM's office (ADMO), including establishing and ensuring deadlines and other requirements are met.


Reporting to the Issues Manager, the Issues Coordinator provides support by coordinating issues as they arise within the Assistant Deputy Minister's office (ADMO) and the division by performing various executive support functions ensuring the efficient and professional flow of information from the ADMO and division.


This position coordinates, reviews and facilitates all correspondence and briefings for the Minister, Deputy Minister, and ADM; ensuring that the messages and information is accurate, responsive, and in line with all other departmental communications (both internal and external) and expressed in a clear and concise manner for the intended audience.

A key component of this position is to ensure stylistic and structural consistency of all ARs assigned to the division.


As a key contact in the ADM office for issues related to action requests, a high degree of time management skills, along with strong political acumen is crucial in meeting the needs of the division and ministry.

This position operates in an environment that is both highly political and technical. A solid understanding of the division and ministry priorities and/or goals are imperative.


The position works closely with the MCU and the branches to identify communication needs and acts as a key liaison.


You will convene, engage and maintain priority tracking of cross-department initiatives, compile and edit documents and information for branch and divisional initiatives, and coordinate ARTS.

In your role as an Issues Coordinator, you will be responsible to:

  • Manage special projects and participate in various divisional initiatives that are required to support Economic Development & Business Supports (EDBS) divisional priorities;
  • Maintain awareness of content matter experts within the EDBS division and consult as required on various briefing notes and projects;
  • Regularly evaluate file management processes and storage by maintaining the ADMO SharePoint Site, ARTS, including recommendations on file management improvements;
  • Work closely with the Issues Manager to coordinate contributions from the division into departmental communications;
  • Coordinate all ARTS processes and ARs for the division and route incoming requests to the appropriate branch within the division based on a review of context and content;
  • Review, edit, and provide suggestions on department and ministerial briefings, action requests, correspondence, and other documents to ensure consistency with department policies and enhance format, grammar, and content to meet all requirements providing clarity, accuracy and relevance;
  • Collaborate with branch staff on requests for edits from ADMO regarding briefing notes and correspondence; and
  • Knowledge and understanding of the FOIP act and process.
This is a temporary position until the end of June 2025. Secondments will be considered.
