***: The Library Coordinator is responsible for library services, collections, and learning spaces to support academic excellence and student engagement at St. Lawrence College. Provides frontline customer service and Library information services to faculty, students, staff, and community members including but not limited to circulation, reference, interlibrary loan, and instruction in the use of the Library collections and equipment.


Responsible for:

cataloguing, processing, collection maintenance; data collection and reporting using library and college systems (SIRSI and PeopleSoft Service Indicators); participation in the delivery of library orientation, tours, and workshops.

Provides customer service and policy enforcement. Participates in library projects, programs, procedure development, and committee work.

Incumbent must be sensitive, responsive, and inclusive to the needs of all patrons as library knowledge and skills vary, and the patron population includes marginalized groups and patrons of varying ages, socioeconomic status, ethnicities and cultural identities, abilities, and accessibility needs.


The Library Coordinator is responsible for the daily scheduling of part-time support staff and bursary students as well as the training of new staff.

Assigns and oversees work of part-time support staff and bursary students. Responsible for the daily operations of the campus library services and facility.

This position coordinates campus-wide, cross-department Student Engagement programming and events.


Qualifications:


Education and Experience:

A minimum of a Library Technician Diploma (or equivalent).

A minimum of 2 years of experience in an academic library, providing front-line customer service. Experience in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience with Integrated Library systems. Project planning/coordinating experience.


Other Required Qualifications:


  • Proficiency in library research, information analysis and evaluation, including knowledge of local/remote reference tools and sources; resources available locally and at other Colleges; database searching techniques including Boolean logic, keyword searching, truncation, etc.
  • Current cataloguing skills and familiarity with MARC and RDA records.
  • Proficiency with library software including ILS/LSP, discovery layers, and content management platforms (Alma and Primo VE, and LibGuides preferred).
  • Indepth knowledge of standard library processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of library trends.
  • Wide general knowledge and an awareness of current affairs.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills (written/oral) including negotiating, interviewing, instructing, etc.
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities.
  • Ability to operate/troubleshoot typical library equipment and assist with computer and printing support.
  • Knowledge of accessibility legislation and information policies including open access, copyright, privacy, and ethics.
  • Serviceoriented with a solid understanding of the customer service ethic.
  • Strong organizational / multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple demands and changing priorities.

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location. Normal office environment.
