- Ensure passenger, crew, and vessel safety and security.
- Assign tasks to deck crew and provide guidance.
- Supervise navigation and maneuvering of the vessel.
- Maintain up-to-date navigation charts and ensure all bridge equipment is functional.
- Ensure readiness of lifesaving and firefighting equipment.
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences following the RESPECT Service System.
- Lead pre-cruise preparations, crew supervision, vessel piloting, and reporting.
- Conduct pre-cruise briefings for crew regarding special needs and boarding procedures.
- Inspect the vessel for safety and seaworthiness.
- Coordinate with other departments to fulfill guest requests and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Enforce safety standards and procedures for staff and guests.
- Oversee Emergency Response and Evacuation Plan compliance.
- Participate in vessel maintenance and safety drills.
- Handle mooring operations, material handling, and equipment maintenance.
- Assist with crew training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Develop positive relationships with team members and guests.
- Resolve guest issues in collaboration with the Restaurant Manager.
- Complete shift documentation and safety records.
- Ensure vessel cleanliness and safety.
- Assist with marine operations budgeting and strategic planning.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to regulations and company policies.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Master Limited over 60 Gross Tonnage certificate preferred with relevant experience.
- Marine Basic First Aid certification.
- Transport Canada approved marine medical certification.
- Minimum 2 years of marine experience.
- ROC-MC and Simulated Electronic Navigation certifications.
- Additional skills such as ship-handling and customer service are a plus.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Physical ability to perform necessary tasks.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
- Compliance with safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Availability to work on holidays.

About You:
This role requires someone who is flexible, energetic, and embodies City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.
About the Position:
The Port Captain is responsible for overseeing the safe operation of passenger vessels, ensuring crew and passenger safety, providing an enjoyable experience for guests, and maintaining environmental respect. During off-peak periods, the Port Captain will also assist with vessel maintenance and special projects as needed.
