About the role
We're looking for a Manager, Personal lines, to join our growing team

This is an 18-month secondment/contract opportunity


What you'll do here:


  • Develop methods to inspire and build a highly effective and engaged team capable of meeting the current and future needs through effective leadership.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement leadership strategies, organizational structure, and processes/technology improvement initiatives.
  • Organize, lead and assist in the delivery of corporate audits of each of the regions within the regional division.
  • Liaise with Facility Association for RSP audits and other RSP requirements.
  • Provide effective leadership by continuously keeping staff informed on initiatives and results and share responsibility for the overall performance, productivity, and engagement of team members.
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with the Regional Managers and underwriters, as well as your counterparts across the country and across distribution channels.
  • Act as an ambassador for Corporate Personal Insurance liaising with Operations and Planning, Operational Performance, Sales and Business Development and Claims Management on planning, technical and administrative issues.
  • Play a key and active role in the selection process and hiring of qualified staff.
  • Lead by example and live our values every day.

What you bring to the table:

  • University degree/College diploma or any combination of equivalent education and experience
  • A minimum of four [4] years of Underwriting experience at an intermediate or above level
  • Strong knowledge of personal lines products and systems.
  • Leadership ability to influence and motivate people and facilitate change.
  • Can set clear objectives and monitor the progress of multiple initiatives and deadlines.
  • Must be able to monitor competitive practices, industry trends, or other developments impacting business results and make recommendations regarding corporate practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to foster and maintain effective professional relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • People and/or Project Management experience with strong skills in collaboration, coaching and mentoring, and proven success in team building and managing relationships with a remote team.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with insight into different perspectives and approaches.
  • Can master multiple priorities under time constraints with a sense of urgency.
  • CIP or FCIP preferred.
