The AVP, Healthcare Strategy & Corporate Development is responsible for driving, leading and evolving the digital and healthcare transformation strategy for the Manulife Group Benefits business in Canada.

In this capacity you will assess market opportunities, develop short-, medium
- and long-term strategies, engage with internal and external partners and act as a leading expert on the global healthcare landscape. Partnering with internal corporate development teams and external advisors, you will also act as the business lead for M&A, venture investments and other corporate development engagements that further Manulife's healthcare strategy and ambitions. In this capacity you will lead collaborations and build analytical models to assess opportunities and determine the impact of growth initiatives and corporate development activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead the assessment of healthcare market opportunities and industry players as part of driving the Company's digital transformation and healthcare growth vision and ambition
  • Lead crossfunctional teams in the development, presentation and evolution of related strategies, business cases and roadmaps
  • Develop and lead detailed execution and implementation plans across a crossenterprise, crossfunctional team both centrally and with key partners
  • Accountable for developing and leading business cases and the strategic rationale for corporate development activities and venture investments
  • Partner with internal corporate development teams to prepare strategic and financial analysis of potential transaction opportunities, providing business input into valuation analysis including financial modeling and estimation of synergies
  • Lead crossfunctional business teams in evaluating, negotiating and completing merger, acquisition or divestiture opportunities that are aligned with the Company's strategy
  • Act as the business lead in due diligence processes
  • Lead the development and presentation of business cases and strategic materials to senior management
  • Maintain an uptodate view and pulse on the healthcare M&A and venture investment landscape in Canada
  • Lead a team of skilled strategy and corporate development professionals, championing a highperformance and inclusive team environment.
  • Provide thought leadership on the healthcare market landscape, key players and growth opportunities

Job Requirement:


  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including healthcare strategy, healthcare delivery, management consulting, investment banking, venture investments and / or corporate development
  • University degree. MBA or other businessoriented education would be an asset
  • Experience with building transactional valuation models and executing corporate development activities
  • Confidence, maturity and credibility to deliver and present to Senior Executive leadership and business unit leadership teams
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to translate complex technical issues into fundamental concepts
  • Strong relationshipbuilding skills to build effective working relationships with Segment and business unit leaders
  • Highly developed financial acumen and business orientation
  • Ability to influence across all lines of business and at all levels within the Company.
  • Adaptability to respond to changing priorities.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • High level of selfmotivation and keen sense of 'owning' and delivering on project deliverables.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
