We are seeking a qualified Program Assistant to join our Faculty of Applied & Technical Studies for the following program.

Professional Cook
The Program Assistant, Culinary Program, is responsible for supporting the learning environment within all programs in the Culinary Department. The Assistant provides support to faculty including ensuring compliance with safety procedures and safe culinary practices.


The Assistant undertakes all duties related to providing ongoing support to culinary students and works under the guidance and direction of the culinary instructors.


The Assistant is responsible for food storage and stock inventory, program preparations, food safety requirements, lab cleanliness, cafeteria, and dining room operations ensuring that all culinary equipment is kept in good working order.

Qualifications:


  • Completion of grade 12 and Red Seal qualification
  • Cook.
  • Three (3) years related experience, preferably in a postsecondary teaching environment.
  • Food Safe Level 1 required.
  • Good working knowledge of culinary tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Good manual dexterity and physical fitness sufficient for lifting product up to 25 kg.
  • WHMIS certification required.
  • Must possess practical fire training / extinguisher knowledge.
  • Must be highly motivated, detail oriented, able to prioritize tasks and efficiently accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, superior time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Able to work independently with multiple deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to problem solve and function effectively in a fastpaced diverse work environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency required, including Microsoft Office Suite.
