In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and an annual salary range of $77,966 - $129,950.


Location - Work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square.

Working for Corporate and Foundation Relations, University Development, External Relations


The Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) team is one of seven units that make up University Development at the University of Alberta.

Whether through skilled donor engagement, strong community partnerships, or a passionate dedication to philanthropy, Corporate and Foundation Relations staff act as a catalyst for societal change.


Position


Reporting to the Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR), the Development Associate is responsible for creating and implementing fundraising strategies with high-capacity corporate donors and prospects, particularly those with multiple interest relationships with the university.

The Development Associate coordinates contacts between the University community and key major corporate donors and prospects.


The Development Associate will manage an existing portfolio of 75 corporate relationships with the goal of attracting philanthropic gifts up to $2,500,000.

The Development Associate will be assigned to high-capacity, complex accounts.


As an active member of the Corporations and Foundations Team the Development Associate will be expected to assist in the development of the overall Corporate and Foundations strategy.


Utilizing their established skills in strategy development, relationship building and negotiation, the incumbent will provide specialist advice/support to faculties in the area of corporate and foundations advancement and will participate in faculty strategy development.


The Development Associate will draw on support from portfolios in the Development team including Faculty Development, University Development, Advancement Services and Principal Gifts Strategy and Initiatives.


As the fundraising priorities for this position impact multiple faculties, it will be essential that this position establish effective working relationships with a wide range of faculty-based development and senior administrative and academic staff.


Duties

  • Personally manage a portfolio of highcapacity corporate and foundation accounts.
  • Identify the target markets, target corporations and foundations, proactively seeking opportunities to generate new proposals based on interests and priorities.
  • Develop strategies for the cultivation and solicitation of major philanthropic investments and provide leadership and guidance to faculties and units in aligning priorities with corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Personally visit key corporate and foundation accounts locally, regionally, and nationally, for the purposes of identifying new prospects, cultivating existing relationships, soliciting contributions and/or stewardship.
  • Provide leadership in organizing, planning and carrying out solicitation activities involving a wide range of participants.
  • Develop proposals be responsible for writing proposals and overseeing proposals written by others.
  • Ensure the timely capture and recording of data relating to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity for the assigned prospect pool.
  • Work with a sense of urgency, be goaloriented and take personal accountability for fundraising goals.
