**POSITION


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties for this position may involve but are not limited to:

  • Initial review, processing and management of all Injury on Duty Reports (IODs) and non-work related medical absences as assigned.
  • Complete required documentation to be submitted to WSIB and/or Telushealth.
  • Review, action and link all documentation that is received for assigned claims.
  • Regularly communicate with members to assist them through the lifecycle of their claim and ensure that accurate and current information is being provided.
  • Review and confirm information on the Sick Reports. Send notifications to Commanders to inquire about member's absences, and determine if a referral to Telushealth is required. Make referral to Telushealth where appropriate.
  • Review, process and track all 102 advance payments issued by WSIB for assigned claims.
  • In consultation with the coordinator, review and process medical requests for ergonomic assessments and medical requests for parking permits.
  • Send notifications to members when there is insufficient time in their sick bank to use. Receive and action the member's responses according to established processes.
  • Review and action the biweekly Payroll Summary per outlined processes.
  • Process and update PWT Systems when Central Sick Leave hours are received/to be returned under the YRPA Central Sick Leave program.
  • Complete and prepare YRP145B forms when members have been cleared for regular duties.
  • Complete Plan Sponsor Statements for Long Term Disability Claims as required.
  • Process the Central Sick Leave repayments including maintaining associated spreadsheets on a monthly basis.
  • Update and track information on reports as required, and ensure that all activity on a member's medical file is accurately documented.
  • Monitor all files as assigned and determine when appropriate escalation is required.
  • Analyze data to determine consecutive days off due to illness, patterns occurring that may be addressed and escalate to the Supervisor.
  • Participate in legal matters as required.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Successful completion of a two (2) year college diploma in Human Resources or a health related field. Minimum of two (2) years of previous experience working in Human Resources, Disability Management, Attendance Management or a related field.
**PREFERRED


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Disability Management Certification and/or Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Ontario Human Rights legislation, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act) and demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate its significant and relevancy to each situation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Parklane or any other claims/attendance management system.
  • Proven ability to handle a multitude of tasks and work in a fastpaced demanding environment.
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with YRP members at all ranks, Region of York HR department, YRPA, WSIB, and health care providers.
