Summary:
Plans shipments and communicates shipping priorities with Planners and all other related parties. Arranges loads and coordinates transportation requirements with outside carriers. Determines loading priorities and provides instruction to Lead Hands and loaders. Processes shipping documents and performs other required shipping administrative tasks to maximize customer satisfaction and increase shipping efficiencies.


Timings:
Monday to Friday (6 am to 2 pm)


What you will be doing:


  • Plan and modify efficient shipment plans in advance of customer due dates and communicate shipping priorities with the Planner.
  • Actively participate in backlog meetings as required and other necessary communications with planners to update shipment plan and accordingly make any necessary changes to delivery arrangements.
  • Arrange loads and coordinate transportation with outside carriers. Ensures transportation resources (i.e. drivers, tractors, trailers, etc.) are utilized most efficiently to minimize total delivery costs while adhering to customer delivery requirements.
  • Call customers and arrange deliveries per customer requirements.
  • Determine loading priorities and provide instruction to loaders.
  • Communicate customer priorities with Customer Service, Lead Hands, Warehouse Supervisor, and Planners.
  • Process and file bill of ladings as required.
  • Process and file shipping order documents as required.
  • Follow all processes to properly update data in company's computer system as required.
  • Prepare and process custom documents for international shipments.
  • Keep a log of CHEP and CPC pallet transactions and prepare and process all necessary documents. Participate in CHEP and CPC counts as required.
  • Actively participate in improving shipping processes by discovering root causes of potential errors and recommending and implementing solutions to avoid them.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety and housekeeping practices, use of personal protective equipment, and any other company policies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results and performing other duties as assigned.;
  • Backup for this position is a Shipping Clerk when required or as designated by the Shipping Manager.
  • Provide backup support for the other Shipping staff as required.

Education:


  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Basic Math

What you will bring to the table:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment involving numerous task changes.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must be comfortable with using a computer, basic skill level with WORD and Excellent with EXCEL.
  • Must have a pleasant and positive attitude at work.
  • Must work to complete all tasks in a timely manner.
  • Worked in an office environment.
  • Must be presentable to clients.
  • Previous manufacturing experience an asset
