Parsons is now hiring an experienced Area Manager with a broad background in Rail & Transit Infrastructure development, and a desire to implement creative innovative, practical solutions for various projects in the Vancouver region.


In this role, you will be responsible for client management, bid development, scope development, project management, and commercial performance of the project to meet project goals and objectives.

Plans and defines program goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies.


Responsibilities:


  • Successfully win and manage complex and projects within the operational and strategic framework
  • Develop strategic initiatives client management plans and business plans for the area that align with the overall goals of the district and division
  • Manage interdisciplinary teams of professionals.
  • Oversees establishment of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.
  • Integrate competing and/or conflicting elements into the planning and execution processes so that project requirements flow smoothly.
  • Mobilize company resources or hire new employees to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work.
  • Acts as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during the program execution.
  • Assess contract risk and negotiate changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors including m arketing and securing additional work with the client.
  • Develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project with managers and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the projects meet or exceed the goals established in these plans.
  • Devise and execute an action plan to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work and advise all parties of any changes
  • Maintain current and timely change orders.
  • Monitor and report to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.

Required Skills/Experience:


  • University Degree is required
  • 15+ years of related engineering management experience on largescale programs
  • Possess a broad general technical and business background in the rail industry including knowledge of industry standards.
  • Must have the ability to manage projects, interface with clients, and enjoy being handson technically in the project.

Preferred Skills/Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering related technical/business field
  • Experience with Rail/Transit systems in Canada
