Faculty/Department VP Research Unit SPHERU Employee Group CUPE 5791 Collective Agreement Consideration Open to the Public. CUPE 5791 Job Family Operational Services Category Casual Number of Vacancies 1 Position Summary


The Administrative Support will be working under the supervision of the Co-Director of SPHERU at the University of Regina, assisting with various administrative tasks associated with the SPHERU activities.


The primary responsibilities include:

  • Performing general office duties, such as preparing and processing incoming and outgoing correspondence, purchasing and maintaining office supplies and office equipment, budget and project files;
  • Overseeing the allocation and use of shared SPHERU office space;
  • Providing administrative support to events and meetings organized by SPHERU, both internal and external; collaborating with the USask SPHERU office and staff;
  • Assisting with travel arrangements for the UR SPHERU researchrelated activities and expense reimbursement as needed;
  • Assisting with job postings, hiring, and appointments of SPHERU research assistants in liaison with HR and Research Services Office;
  • Processing expenditures and adjustments on SPHERU accounts;
  • Assisting with the development and production of SPHERU knowledge dissemination documents and reports; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

  • Minimum education required is a high school diploma;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a similar position;
  • Familiarity with the University of Regina financial and administrative processes;
  • Demonstrated expertise in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook; GroupWise). The position can require creating and maintaining spreadsheets, databases, and general documents;
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with SPHERU members and external partners;
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of University of Regina FAST, GroupWise, and/or Microsoft Outlook;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and
  • The ability to work independently under general direction or as part of a group.
