The Analyst, Capital Projects reports directly to the Potash Manager, Capital Investment_ _and is responsible to provide data for use in strategic decision making across the Potash Business Unit to ensure the Potash Capital Portfolio achieves its expected business value.

This role will be required to provide reporting and analysis for capital projects and is a meaningful contributor to the results of the portfolio within the Potash Business Unit.

In addition, a strong analytical aptitude with the ability to maintain and analyze capital project data to provide meaningful insights on the Potash Portfolio will be required.

This position will provide guidance and expertise while building relationships with the Site Accounting and Project teams.

Strong communication skills are necessary, as this role will be required to and provide the necessary information for decision making within Nutrien.

This position is located in
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and is not** available for remote work.


What you will do:


  • Responsible for the creation of capital project reports, communications, and presentations for review by Senior Leadership
  • Manage capital data quality for the Potash Business unit through collaboration with site teams
  • Provide support for monthly capital portfolio reporting for the overall Potash Business Unit and select individual portfolios
  • Facilitate SRED review processes and Tax Credit submissions with our sites
  • Achieve goals and objectives aligned with business strategy through the implementation and support of the Project Value Index (PVI) process for capital projects across the Potash Business Unit
  • Support the standardization of Nutrien's Capital Prioritization processes, using judgment and experience for projects and initiatives across all Potash sites and within the Potash Engineering, Technology, and Capital department (ETC)
  • Prepare consolidated Capital Budgets for the Potash business unit for the annual capital presentation to the Board
  • Work autonomously and accept responsibility to resolve issues and remove obstacles
  • Serve as Project Management Software Financial Expert
  • Support the Manager, Capital Investment in the creation and achievement of long and shortterm Strategic Objectives, as well as to monitor Key Performance Indicators to ensure success
  • Engage, motivate, and inspire the Site Project Teams to embrace change and support the continuous improvement of the Corporation's capital strategies and aligned project management procedures to ensure project success

What you will bring:


  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance from a recognized institution required
  • CPA designation is considered an asset
  • Proven track record of at least 3 years of related experience in Mining, Mineral Processing, or similar Industrial companies required, with additional experience in project accounting considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in capital project accounting roles in these industries will be preferred.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Designation considered an asset
  • Must be proficient in Excel
  • Proficiency in Oracle or SAP considered an asset
  • Demonstrated analytical skills are required
  • Must be highly motivated and requires the ability to lead/coach people to maintain the highest levels of expertise and performance
  • Ability to work successfully in an environment with mínimal supervision and a high degree of interaction between management, teams, and individuals
