Job Description:

The Communicative Disorders Assistant will work within two key roles within the
Simcoe Muskoka Parry Sound Infant Hearing Program: 1. Providing hearing screening to infants born within the community under supervision 2. Support to the Audiologist/Audiology Services.

The CDA infant hearing screener screens infants within the community clinic setting based on defined Ministry protocols and procedures.

The CDA Audiology Role will include:

  • Distractor for VRA during team tests
  • Data management for ADP, OCSD, ACSD,
  • Dispensing management—
- keeping track/log of IHP loaners, demos,
- yearly calibration,
- keeping track of Audiology and HA dispensary accessories and materials.

  • Assisting with HA and earmold checks and repairs.
  • Managing the hearing aid orders

Education:

I. Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent

II. Community college Diploma specific to Communicative Disorders Assistant


Experience:

I. Experience and/or comfort with infants an asset

II. Experience working with children, parents and professionals in the area of child development an asset

III. Experience with data entry an asset

IV. Knowledge of up to date infection, prevention and control an asset

V. Experience with key systems including ISCIS, Meditech and/or Goldcare an asset


Competencies:

  • Demonstrating knowledge of Hearing parts.
  • Ability to communicate with Manufacturers clearly and effectively for new orders and repairs.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Flexibility
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Vehicle and valid drivers license required and travel across the region
