Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Student Finance & Client Services and under the supervision of the Student Awards Officer, the Financial Aid Administrator is a member of the Enrolment Services team and is responsible for duties associated with the delivery of government financial aid programs (i.e. Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).


Accountabilities

  • Application Processing and

Data Entry:
_

  • Reviews student appeal information for eligibility and accuracy
  • Adjudicates and enters midlevel appeal cases with MTCU to adjust funding to appropriate levels
  • In compliance with governmental policies, confirms the electronic release of financial aid to students through the validation of identification, course load and financial information
  • Monitors student academic progress as per the OSAP Academic Guidelines
  • Correlates and maintains accurate files on behalf of MTCU including archiving of all required documentation to be sent to MTCU on an annual basis
  • Ensures that fees owing to the university are calculated and deducted from available funding to be returned to the school by the lending institution (National Student Loans Service Centre)
  • Updates information with the MTCU as requested by the students; includes changes of income, course load, parental information
  • Assists with general inquiries regarding Laurier's scholarship and bursary programs
  • Scans supporting documentation to be uploaded to the Banner Extender System
  • Personally accountable for maintaining knowledge of all current government programs, policies and revisions
  • Tier 2 Support:_
  • Actively provides guidance to find additional avenues of funding based on students individual financial and family circumstances
  • Provides information, advice and clarification to student questions regarding OSAP policies and procedures

  • Ensures related business processes are well documented and revised as required, including proper storage of electronic files on Laurier's network drives and as per departmental standards

  • Proactively builds relationships with all campus partners and colleagues; acts as an ambassador on behalf of the department and Enrolment Services at all times
  • Accepts responsibility for outcomes and maintains standards of professionalism
  • Adheres to business standards as established by the unit, and compiles related metrics to assist with datadriven decisionmaking
  • Keeps informed on all areas of Registrarial Services and actively seeks out crosstraining opportunities in order to provide support and back up during holidays and absences
  • Supports financial literacy initiatives in coordination with the Financial Literacy Specialist
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year post secondary education plus minimum 4 years directlyrelated work experience
  • First hand knowledge of MTCU programs and policies is preferred
  • Ability to work independentl
