IT Systems Administrator:


Job location:
our office in Ottawa, Canada. We work in a hybrid model, therefore you will be expected to be in our office 3-days per week.


About the team:


An exceptional team player with strong communication and collaboration skills, the System Administrator will partner with team members within Corporate IT and across the business to meet key strategic initiatives related to IT infrastructure.


What you will do:


Key Responsibilities

  • Be the main point of contact for all Mobile phone questions and concerns. Along with Sr management actively manage the relationship with the carriers.
  • Along with the SharePoint admin, help support power automate/power apps projects.
  • Actively monitor system alerts for CPU usage, memory spikes, and disk space and take necessary action to prevent downtime.
  • Implement hardware and software solutions while having responsibility for its daytoday operations.
  • Work within our ITSM tool (ServiceNow) for ticket handling while adhering to ITIL Framework.
  • Support our virtual environment users and help maintain our VDI infrastructure
  • Support IT infrastructure delivery activities to remote offices.
  • Support backend changes such as server maintenance I our production, development and test environments, as well as any AV backend changes and integration.
  • Support the mass deployment of updates/upgrades and be aware of OS/Software that is entering EOL and remediate accordingly.
  • Responsible for regular log review and identifying any security risks to the service, and ensuring appropriate remedial actions are taken.
  • Support the operations of IT infrastructure while following a strict change control and documentation process.
  • Proactively ensure the reliability and availability of all infrastructure components.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist the IT Architects with implementation and ongoing support of their designs.
  • Point of escalation for the Service Desk team on L3 issues.
  • Partner with teams across CIT and the business on other project and initiatives as needed

What we are looking for:


Role Specific Skills and experience

  • Knowledge of ITSM processes and experience working with ticket systems.
  • Experience with various monitoring tools to proactively monitor all aspects of the IT infrastructure.
  • Experience with vendor management such as mobile carriers
  • Knowledge of RMM software to deploy automated jobs to endpoints and servers scripting in various languages is considered highly desirable.
  • Operational experience of High Availability and Disaster Recovery environments, such as load balancing, clusters, data replication, desktop imaging, and experience in a Storage Area Network environment with data replication.
  • Proven ability to realign priorities rapidly to meet evolving business requirements; experience working with in pre established SLAs and management metrics.
  • Experience with Vendor Management relationship (Microsoft, ISP, Mobile Carriers, etc.)
  • Strong technical skills relevant to enterprise tools such as Windows OS, Mac OS, VPN, Okta, O365, Windows Server, RDP, cloud solutions, Active Directory, MDM, OS patch management, and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • VM Ware, VCenter, ESXi working knowledge to support VDI (virtualization)
  • Relevant security and confidentiality thresholds (SOC2, CGRP, etc.), CCNA, MCSE, MS Azure certifications would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of MDM solutions (MS Intune)
  • Knowledge of SSL Certificates, GPOs, Security Groups, Network Shares, Permissions, ADUC (organization and maintenance), DNS, DHCP, Azure AD, IAM solutions, SSO, automation, and integration.
  • Knowledge of power automate/power apps an asset
  • Good understanding of backup solutions (Veeam) and back up recovery.
  • Knowledge of Change Requests and Root Cause analysis.

Primary Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role managing medium/large infrastructure environments with Networking and Systems Administration experience; experience working in high tech environment is an asset
  • CCNA, MCSE, MS Azure, and ITIL V4 certifications would be
