Job Description Summary


The position, working closely with the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Program Director (the program director), is responsible for strategic planning, program support, and overall administrative needs of the Faculty s Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (BPSc) program.


This position is responsible for the development of policies and procedures, identifying the need for and supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of new initiatives within the BPSc program, participation in the BPSc governance committees, liaising with the Faculty s Enabling Units in support of the BPSc program, and supervising the work of temporary or permanent staff.

Organizational Status

The Program Manager reports to the BPSc program director.

This position requires interaction and cooperative work with the decanal leadership, directors, faculty members, students and staff within the Faculty.

May delegate work to support staff as required.

Work Performed


  • Independently researches, prioritizes and follows up on multiple issues and concerns identified by the Program director, as they relate to the BPSc
program, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature; determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response.


  • Develops, articulates, and evaluates program policies and procedures, collecting feedback from
stakeholders and making appropriate recommendations to the BPSc program director.


  • Advises students and faculty on University, Faculty, and Program policies and procedures as they apply
to individual students. Exercises judgment and initiative in handling matters of a non-routine nature requiring the interpretation of University and

Faculty guidelines, procedures and policies.


  • Evaluates various support functions (policies, procedures, staff resources) for the program, and analyses results to improve the overall
effectiveness of functions.


  • Collaborates with the Faculty s enabling units to facilitate the delivery of the program.
  • Plans and coordinates BPSc Program Committee meetings. Develop agendas, prepares appropriate materials and presentations, attends
meetings, keeps records of decisions made, and ensures follow up actions are completed. Act as a resource for leadership, informing of new

developments that are related to the committees and meetings that this position oversees.


  • Manages and maintains records of BPSc program changes in accordance with current standards. Ensures all program changes since previous
program review are tracked. Provides rationale for program changes and evidence, through evaluation results, of the success of such changes.


  • Writes reports on behalf of the BPSc program director for use in strategic planning, updates to the Faculty via Academic Portfolio reports, and
similar documents, and drafts and writes program documents for use on the Faculty website.


  • May supervise BPSc Senior Program Assistant(s), assuming responsibility for the recruitment, training, performance evaluation and development of
these employees.


  • Advises in the BPSc program and course budget processes necessary for review by the program director. Participates in budget planning as
required.


  • Leads projects to address issues by setting goals, timelines, delegating work to appropriate staff and faculty, following-up on tasks, and evaluating
at project completion. Expected to exercise judgment in establishing priorities and carrying tasks through to completion in a timely manner.


  • Plans orientation activities and develops materials in collaboration with the Office of Student Services (e.g. student welcome package, student
program orientation).


  • Guides faculty through the Faculty and University curriculum approval
