    Summary


    The Shop Lead Hand provides leadership to service technicians and helps manage schedules and repairs according to the shop superintendent.

    Key Responsibilities



    • Positively participate in Goal Zero Initiative

    • Provide leadership to shop service technicians.

    • Assist all customers with equipment repairs as required.

    • Ensure service technicians are given proper information to do the job efficiently and correctly.

    • Manage workload demands while performing maintenance and repairs as required

    • Work with shop management to maintain schedules, prioritize and delegate workload.

    • Understand and coach employees to follow the Colas 6S guidelines.

    • Ensure quality control to avoid rework.

    • Perform and manage weekly 6S shop inspections.

    • Occasional Afternoon shifts may be required

    • Maintain positive and professional relationships with co-workers, driver's and operational staff.

    • Ensure understanding of and comply with the principles of the company's Code of Ethics.

    • Other duties as required.

    Qualifications


    Education, Training, Diplomas and Certifications

    • Valid Alberta Journeyman Mechanical certification

    • Driver's license (Class 5) and satisfactory driver's abstract

    Work Experience

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in trade

    Technical Skills

    • Ability to read and understand parts and service manuals

    • In-depth knowledge of Road Construction Heavy Equipment and Trucks

    • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)

    Please note this position is a 60/40 split between supervising duties and mechanic duties.
