An integral member of a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team and in coordination with other community agencies and professionals, you provide a range of mental health services to children, youth and their families, when the child or youth is suffering from serious emotional, psychological, behavioural or psychiatric illness.


As a
Mental Health Clinician, CYMH you provide direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention for children, youth and their families.

Consulting with community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other ministry programs, you understand the importance of being involved in community education, development, coordination and prevention/early intervention programs.

You build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders in the community to ensure that conflicts are resolved and appropriate outcomes are achieved.

Job Requirements:


  • Master's in Social Work, Educational or Counselling Psychology Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level.
  • Minimum of one (1) year fulltime equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services
(This is defined as:

Experience relates to providing direct services with a focus on children and youth who experience complex mental health conditions including, but not limited to, psychotic disorders, concurrent disorders, eating disorders emotional dysregulation, trauma, anxiety, depression and issues related to suicide.

Practicum experience at a CYMH team with children, youth and families may be considered equivalent.)

  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Two (2) years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Recent (within the past 5 years) experience or training in providing services to clients with Eating Disorders and/or Early Psychosis Intervention.
  • Training in specialty modalities such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT minimum 30hour foundational training), evidencebased trauma therapies, and/or evidencebased trainings in early psychosis intervention.
  • Applicants who selfidentify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

NOTE:

Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.

If hired, a successful applicant would be under-implemented at the Social Program Officer 21 classification with an employee development plan in place until the qualifications for Social Program Officer (CYMH) 24 are fully met.

Two (2) positions available.

These positions can be based in any of the following Ministry of Children, Family and Development offices: Mission and Fraser Cascade - Agassiz / Hope.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
