JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for plant operations, quality, employees and equipment. The Plant Manager has to balance priorities in order to get daily quotas produced, solve production problems.

The Plant Manager is also expected to pursue continuous improvements within the Plants and with other departments to create efficiencies and synergies where possible.


Plant location is in Harley, ON (between Brantford, ON and Woodstock, ON)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

_ Employee Relations_

  • Organize shifts and crews along with other plant managers (wetcast, hollowcore and drycast production, in Plant #1, #2 and #3).
  • Monitor and ensure employees are crosstrained on multiple functions.
  • Conduct interviews and make decisions on hiring, training and promotions.
  • Monitor performance, conduct reviews and administer raises following the established pay grid.
  • Make decisions on terminations (working together with Human Resources).
  • Conduct employee 'townhall' meetings, crew meetings and individual meetings when necessary.
  • Define roles and expectations for the employees.
  • Review and approve timecards for payroll.
  • Responsible for enforcing Stubbe's Health and Safety Program (working together with Health & Safety Representative)

Production_**- Manpower Planning - Ensure all areas of the operation are suitably manned to perform the required volumes in a timely manner.


  • Liaise with the Manager of Operations regarding specialty projects and products in order to plan a process for manufacturability and scheduling into production.
  • Monitor and track inventory levels and production backlog for all areas of operations (wetcast, hollowcore and drycast)
  • Monitor inventory levels of common production supplies and parts.
  • Oversee and improve the general layout of plant equipment, molds, finished inventory, hardware, and other supplies to increase the efficiency of production.
  • Design molds to best suit production needs in the most costeffective manner.
  • Monitor, evaluate and improve processes for the best return on investment.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of lean processes through the operations and plants.
  • Setup, review, and optimize proper concrete mix designs, meeting strength, cost, and workability requirements.
  • Ability to oversee production processes and equipment to identify and help resolve process and equipment issues that may arise.
  • Coordinate production and maintenance shutdowns.
  • Conduct plant tours with current or future customers, employees, and other persons as required.
  • Perform all duties and activities keeping a focus on high quality and continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshooting various customer complaints.
  • Operate within the departmental budget.

Equipment_**- Respond to and resolve batching plant problems.

  • Conduct yearly plant inspections on overhead cranes, gantry cranes, forklifts, lifting devices, and other equipment.
  • Plan for future plant development, equipment needs, products, etc., considering costeffectiveness and other potential factors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7 Years of relevant work experience in the construction or manufacturing environment would be an asset.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • A welldefined sense of diplomacy, including solid negation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Able to identify key issues, creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
  • A handson approach to management and leadership.
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on plant and business processes.
  • Able to build a strong rapport with people and present information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills and capability of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
