PURPOSE
This is a junior position reporting to the Payroll Manager.

The primary purpose of the HRIS/Payroll Assistant is to provide support to the Payroll department such as payroll functions and assisting with implementing/testing a new software program.

Driven by a "People First" culture of continuous improvement while delivering a high level of service, this role will support various initiatives.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure payroll information is up to date by gathering and inputting data in coordination with the Payroll and Benefits Specialist.
  • Assist the Payroll and Benefits Specialist in processing the biweekly payroll as needed.
  • Ensure vacation, sick time, and lieu time accruals are up to date and available to be loaded into the new payroll software
  • UKG.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure the information is accurate.
  • Test and verify data during the implementation of MNBC's new payroll software

  • Verify and monitor the accuracy of employees' records including benefits and pension deductions.
  • Assist with the creation of user manuals and PowerPoint presentations for the new payroll system.
  • Maintains personnel files for all employees, ensuring that files include relevant and necessary documentation and are kept confidential and in line with the privacy protocol.
  • Ensure documentation and forms are updated and efficient workflows are in place. Prepares and modifies various documents/forms as required.
  • Responds to staff on various queries in a timely and accurate matter. Refers matters of a complex nature to the Payroll Manager.
  • Establishes a high personal standard of service and performance by actively participating in other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Certificate in HR or related field
  • One or more years related work experience in a fastpaced people and culture department.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR and payroll procedures and processes.
  • Proficient in Excel and functions used to compare, analyze, and manage data.
  • Basic accounting and payroll knowledge.
  • Combination of relevant experience, education, and training will be considered.
  • Knowledge of the historical and contemporary contributions made by Métis people in B.C. is an asset.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of a Human Resources/Payroll Information system (HRIS) is an asset.
  • Experience providing a high level of customer service with the ability to create a positive and meaningful customer experience.
  • Utilizes teambuilding skills in a collaborative and "people first" environment while building strong partnerships with those we serve.
  • Excellent analytical skills, technical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong aptitude for problemsolving and sound judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and managing multiple concurrent tasks.
