Scorpio Masonry is a busy masonry company with over 30 years of experience in the industry.
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Richmond, BC team in a full time position.

As a masonry contractor we install brick, block and stone on a variety of commercial, residential and industrial projects. We are currently working on several large projects in and around Vancouver.

In 2017 we expanded into the Vancouver market, and our head office is located in Edmonton, AB where we have been operating for over 30 years and specialize in technical historical restoration and stone panel projects.

At Scorpio Masonry, the estimating and coordination roles are integrated.

Project Coordinators/Estimators will gain experience in all aspects of a project, from reviewing drawings and tender documents to submit bids, to managing projects from start up through completion.

They are responsible for performing detailed take-offs and estimates and will work with General Contractors and our Site Superintendent to ensure project success.

Project Coordinator/Estimators have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of challenging and rewarding masonry projects. These projects vary in size and type, and include projects ranging from new commercial buildings to interesting restoration projects.


This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with a Diploma of Technology or AScT Certification to gain valuable experience in estimating and project management.


Estimating Duties:


  • Conduct site visits and gather information to provide quotes
  • Calculate applicable labour, material and equipment costs for bids
  • Quantity/material takeoffs
  • General square foot takeoffs
  • Review estimates for accuracy

Project Coordination Duties:


  • Compliance preparation
  • Planning and scheduling
  • Cost control
  • Communication
  • Shop drawing review and preparation
  • Safety planning

Skills, Abilities and Experience:


  • Estimating and/or project management experience in masonry is preferred
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control
  • An understanding of project management processes and systems
  • The ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • The ability to plan, develop and monitor project schedules
  • A basic understanding of Canadian Construction Contract law and lien legislation
  • Build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with General Contractors and other project stakeholders
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple tasks on concurrently running projects
  • Ability to complete projects on time and on budget
  • Selfmotivated worker who works effectively with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills

Training/Education

  • An Applied Science Technologist Certification or a recent technical school graduate with a Diploma of Technology

Position Specifics:


  • This position is available to start late August
  • Our office is located in Richmond, BC

Salary:
$50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
