Job Information:


Located in Norman Wells, the Regional Clinical Supervisor, Mental Health and Addiction Services (Clinical Supervisor) reports to the Sahtu Regional Manager, Mental Health and Addictions.

The Clinical Supervisor position is part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary approach to the delivery of direct therapeutic services to support the needs of children, youth and their families.

The incumbent will modify existing programs to suit the realities of providing services in different communities throughout the region; identify additional programs or services required due to local realities and research best practices in other jurisdictions for possible inclusion within the Sahtu region.


As an active member of the Primary Community Care (PCC) Team the Clinical Supervisor provides functional and advanced clinical supervision, education, and leadership for Child and Youth Care Counsellors (CYCC) and Mental Health and Addictions Counsellors.

In providing mentorship the Clinical Supervisor operates from a basis of evidence based counselling as well as more in depth therapeutic models focused on trauma recovery.

The clinical supervisor operates from a philosophy of being person and family-centered, trauma-informed, culturally safe and recovery oriented, screening, intake, assessment, counseling, treatment, aftercare, education, and prevention services to enhance the capacity of individuals, families, and communities to take control of their health and well-being and prevent harm.

This involves having the skills to provide service for various cultural groups, which includes serving a diverse population of elders, adults, adolescents, children and families.

The incumbent will also provide advanced clinical counselling and therapeutic services for residents of the Sahtu region as required.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

  • A Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology or Clinical Social Work with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical supervision.
  • The education or work experience of the incumbent should include at least 800 documented clinical supervision hours with a senior level Clinical Supervisor, where at least 400 hours is direct clinical supervision with supervisees.
  • Advanced postgraduate education in Clinical Supervision in Counselling, Psychological or Clinical Social Work practice is an asset. Professional registration as Clinical Supervisor is an asset. In addition, the incumbent must have experience pertaining to counselling program design, program evaluation and outcome measurement.
