Position Description:
***: Reporting to the Clinical Director and working closely with the Head of Service, this position oversees the development and maintenance of clinical data for program evaluation and research for the Forensic Psychiatry Program. It also supports the coordination of the research staff and their function within the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree required
- Master's Degree is preferred
- Minimum of 3 yrs experience in program evaluation and data collection in a healthcare setting
- Proficient in use of data management software such as R, SPSS, and REDCap
- Welldeveloped interpersonal skills and ability to interact in positive, professional way with patients and staff
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, notably Excel and Word
- Must be able to multitask and manage multiple projects and responsibilities independently, in order to meet assigned deadlines
- Knowledge of research procedures and local reporting requirements related to data collection and study management
- Ability to collaborate with team members and other Hospital programs
- Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of privacy and confidentiality rules as it relates to patient data and health information
- Demonstrates ability to identify strengths and areas of growth; able to receive feedback in professional manner and make changes as necessary
- Ability to provide relevant and constructive feedback to others, when necessary, in order to maintain positive working relationships
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop methods of evaluation e.g. documents and processes to gather program evaluation data
- Administer evaluation questionnaires and monitor distribution and collection
- Communicate directly with patients; receive feedback, answer questions, provide support, aiding patients in completing forms when needed
- Assist clinical staff in troubleshooting patient complaints related to the collection of clinic evaluation data
- Generate relevant clinical data for clinical staff to monitor patient progress and outcomes.
- Manage the development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of quality improvement initiatives which are aligned with established SJHH standards, mission, values and strategic goals.
- Consult with Hospital and professional practice leads when necessary to ensure appropriate evaluation protocols
- Support research activities within the program; assisting in development of protocols, research documents and daily operations of the various studies.
- Assist in the development of research protocols and consent forms
- Submit protocols, renewals, and project completion documents to the Hospital's Research Ethics Board (HREB)
- Maintain HREB standards and liaise with the HREB as needed
- Manage the collection and electronic documentation of patient information, consents, and questionnaires
- Provide leadership and coaching to other research and volunteer staff, contributing to the overall morale and positive work environment where staff can be productive
- Coach staff and learners to ensure that continuous quality improvement initiatives are incorporated into daytoday activities
- Support students and volunteers as they work towards their individual learning goals and objectives
- Train and oversee current students in their research projects in their collection and use of clinical data
- Work with the clinical director and head of service to assist with special projects as needed
