About the Position:


  • The Marketing & Communications Specialist supports the development, coordination, and implementation of internal and external communication plans and initiatives to ensure effective and consistent marketing communication.
  • The Marketing & Communications Specialist will report to the Marketing and Communications Manager. Their role will involve collaborating with partners and teammates to develop and execute successful communication initiatives by planning, researching, writing, and executing content.

Main responsibilities will include:


  • Will partner with internal teams and external vendors when needed to find compelling ways to strengthen the Walters Group brand. This includes demonstrating why the organization is worth exploring, partnering, supporting as a community partner, and ultimately working for.
  • Will monitor, report, and build on usage and engagement on various platforms, including but not limited to SEO & SEM, social listening/user engagement, social media, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Will create, maintain, and manage the digital media and corporate image library, including managing external vendors such as photographers, videographers, or external marketing or media agencies when needed.
  • Will follow online marketing trends and new social media sites and platforms and make recommendations. They will also research and develop content to further support the Walters Group's ongoing and growing initiatives.

Position Requirements:


  • University or College Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field experience.
  • At least 3 years working experience in communications, marketing, or journalism.
  • Solid understanding of a range of marketing strategies, techniques, and technologies.
  • Skill in developing and carrying out strategic internal communication plans, including aligning goals across complex and growing organizations.
  • Must be exceptionally techsavvy and strong in graphic design.
  • Exceptional design, copywriting and editing skills with strong attention to detail and creative problemsolving skills.
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative, handson style with an eye toward detail, action, and implementation.
  • Must be selfmotivated and able to work independently with mínimal direction while taking initiative.
  • Highly organized, with exceptional time management skills
  • Outstanding ability to build trust across an organization, developing relationships with people no matter their department, focus or level.
  • The ability to create and edit video content will be considered an asset, specifically short company videos and reels.
  • Must be able to share a portfolio of past work to demonstrate strengths and capability in building captivating content and engaging audiences on largescale platforms (social media, web, media outreach, etc.)
