This is a temporary replacement position for a bargaining unit employee. Terms and conditions of employment are as outlined in the Support Staff Collective Agreement.


Reporting to the Field Placement Manager, the incumbent develops, implements, and manages work integrated learning (WIL) experiences (field placement and internship) for students in full-time and part-time Human Services and Community Safety programs.

These WIL opportunities allow students to demonstrate competencies/learning outcomes in the field aligned with their program of study. This role is pivotal to the establishment and maintenance of relationships with community partners in the sector.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates all aspects of mandatory field placement/internship experiences explaining processes and protocols to students, advising on options available, and reviewing individual needs or requirements
  • Directing students to Program Coordinator and Credit Transfer Centre to review PLARs and exemptions
  • Implements any academic decisions relating to PLARs and exemptions for field placements
  • Build and maintain the catalogue of opportunities for student placements in GeorgianConnects
  • Implements and makes agencyrequested changes to College/Student/Employer Agreements including WSIB
  • Ensures documentation, record keeping, and placement/internship notes are current, accurate and organized
  • Collects, compiles and ensure accuracy of placement/internship data (student and placement evaluations) documented as per departmental procedures
  • Supports placement monitor and lead placement faculty in providing information and direction regarding concerns occurring during placement experiences
  • Liaises with Field Placement Manager and Associate Dean/Dean as required for escalated concerns such as critical incidents, terminations or partner dissolutions
  • Develops relationships with community partners through direct outreach, program connections and community engagement
  • Analyze placement data to identify new opportunities for community connections
  • Recruits appropriate placement agencies that meet program competency and outcomes for student experiences in the field
  • Conducts periodic community partner checkins to manage partner relations and assess ongoing appropriateness of the placement/internship opportunity
  • Develop placement promotional and marketing materials to ensure community partners are provided relevant information
  • Maintains and enhances partnerships, identifies scheduling or program conflicts, participates in advisory committee meetings as required, ensures College & Program specific policies and procedures are followed and organizes liaison meetings as requested
  • Plans and implements parttime monitor orientation for field placement/internship semesters
  • Gathers and synthesizes feedback from students and community partners to inform placement and program action planning
  • Participates in curriculum, team and Program Advisory Committee meetings as necessary to develop and report on placement activities. Liaises between placement agencies and program faculty
  • Prepares and manages specific projects related to placement/internship office processes, requirements and initiatives.
  • Supports annual updating for Field Placement Manual, Placement Dashboard and field placement requirements within program guides
  • Maintains GeorgianConnects field placement electronic records including catalogue of opportunities, employer records, student questionnaires, etc.

Qualifications:


  • Successfully completed a twoyear postsecondary diploma in the Human Services field or a relevant field of study
  • A minimum of five years' experience in a similar role where duties included working with various partners and community agencies to develop and coordinate such things as placements, educational experiences, etc.
  • Experience tracking and maintaining data and records within a computerized database
  • Computer skills and experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) and MS Teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders including community agencies
  • Decision making and judgement skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel to various campuses
