Job Overview

It is a unique opportunity to learn and participate in several different projects in a research and development environment with a stimulating and motivated team.

The R&D technician will play an essential role in the exploration and testing of different materials.
He (She) will therefore be involved in research and communications with various suppliers of materials and equipment.

As part of his duties and projects, the R&D technician will have to use his creativity to develop prototypes, find new materials and support the development team.

He will therefore be called upon to operate the various equipment necessary for the manufacture of prototypes and new products.


Main responsibilities

  • Experiment with different materials and document test results.
  • Participate in the design of various prototypes and their production.
  • Operate the various equipment necessary to manufacture the prototypes o Research and installation of certain equipment necessary for material testing o Maintenance of workstations and the proper functioning of equipment. o Document the operating procedures, adjustment and control of R&D equipment.
  • Contribute to the laboratory test
  • Occasionally help with certain tests and protocols.
  • Perform some FAI (First article inspection)
  • Contribute to 3D printer and CNC operations.
  • Material handling and preparation.
  • Participate in various improvement and cost reduction projects.
  • Provide technical support to the various departments.

Qualifications required

  • AEC or Technical in mechanical, chemical or industrial engineering or equivalent experience of 3 years in a manufacturing plant using paint materials, plastics, fiberglass, Epoxy, Polyurethane etc.

Mandatory professional skills

  • Knowledge of different materials such as paint, plastics, fiberglass, Polyurethane etc.
  • Curious and resourceful
  • Good manual ability
  • Available for travel to other company sites in Canada and the United States

Professional skills considered an asset

  • Experience with different management software such as Suite Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of ERP system (SAP for example)
  • Have lift /elevator card and experience
  • Experience with SolidWorks and other 2D and 3D software
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork developed.
  • Innovative and openminded
  • Sense of organization
