About the Opportunity:


The QEII New Generation Project is an initiative to realign care and services from the aging Victoria and Centennial buildings on the Victoria General Site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre.

The initiative is the largest healthcare infrastructure project to take place in Nova Scotia.

In total, it includes multiple sub-projects including renovations and new construction at: the Halifax Infirmary site, Dartmouth General Hospital, Hants Community Hospital, and a new community outpatient centre located in Bayers Lake.

As part of this work, the QEII Health Sciences Centre's tertiary, quaternary care and research and academic mandates all need to be addressed in the planning, design and construction phases.


About the Opportunity Continued:


The Project Manager has the following major accountabilities:

  • Support identified NSH functional programming and planning teams and serve as the central point of contact/coordination for designated groups;
  • Ensure the alignment of project planning and initiatives to the overall operational needs and strategic priorities;
  • Following all processes, policies and approaches for clinical project management and support the leadership engagement and consultation throughout the planning, design, construction and commissioning stages of assigned capital projects;
  • Ensuring that project documentation is completed from initiation to close out. This includes (but is not limited to) functional planning, project charters, budgets, cash flows, meeting minutes, contracts, change orders, contemplated change orders, change directives, substantial completion documents, inspections, holdback release, final payment, legal release of liability, and liens;
  • Developing a risk matrix log along with mitigations for each project;
  • Ensuring that all applicable CSA standards, and legislated requirements, are adhered to;
  • Engaging Infection control practitioners prior to starting projects and liaise with them throughout the project duration;
  • Ensure HSE and Environmental Plans are adhered to;
  • Preparing and reviewing tenders, RFQ's and RFP's with NSH and Internal Service Department staff;
  • Lead the reviewing process for all project submittals including schedules, drawings and specifications, as required;
  • Provide regular information to be used in implementation and monitoring of project KPIs;
  • Reviewing and preparing responses to requests for information (RFI) as well as developing and distributing supplemental instructions (SI);
  • Provide an onsite presence to those projects assigned to ensure all accountabilities are being met in the interest of NSH.

About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Registered Engineer/Architect (in N.S.) in a relevant discipline having 3-5 years project management experience
  • Project Manager with 35 years of experience in a Building Infrastructure or Health Care Environment:
  • Professional Engineer/Architect (asset)

Compensation and Incentives:

$38.79- $48.48 Hourly
