Intellectual Property / Trademark Legal Assistant Job Description:


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Facilitates file opening and client intake process;
  • Updates client billing information, including special billing instructions;
  • Coordinates all month end billing, docket entry, generating and editing prebills, and preparing invoices for client distribution;
  • Assists with the lawyers practice management, including calendar management, bring forwards, and ensuring deadlines are being addressed;
  • Provides assistance to others during absences as needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Legal Assistant, experience with IP / trademark law, legal procedures, and protocols;
  • Legal Administration and/or Law Clerk Diploma preferred;
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines and manage a high volume desk;
  • Strong technical skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Calendar);
  • Experience in AltLegal Trademark Docketing Software considered an asset;
  • Familiarity with Aderant, or other legal accounting software;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Clientservice oriented;
  • Ability to work within a team environment and independently; and
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
