Job Overview:


Working under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, The Skilled Maintenance Aide is responsible to maintain a high standard of upkeep to the building and equipment, taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and comfort of our residents, staff, and visitors.


Responsibilities:


  • Work collaboratively with the maintenance team in carrying out all duties and responsibilities related to: daily operational routines, breakdowns and emergency repairs, preventive maintenance programs, cooperation with contractors, life safety equipment inspections and compliance.
  • To perform work related to: HVAC system operation and maintenance, plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, mechanical repairs, carpentry, painting and decoration, grounds maintenance, garbage removal, other related duties as assigned/required

Hours :
Scheduled daytime hours with flexibility required for projects and emergencies. Rotating weekends among maintenance staff. Will be included in a 24/7 emergency on-call rotation.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Trade Certificate in at least one of the following: Stationary Engineer, 3rd Class Electrician, Mechanic, Plumber, Building Maintenance Mechanic Certificate, Heating, Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning Certificate, Building Environmental Systems Certificate, Facility systems technician certificate, Environmental building maintenance certificate.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years' experience in facilities maintenance
  • Knowledge of lowpressure hot water boilers
  • Plumbing knowledge would be an asset
  • Vulnerable Sector Search Criminal Record check
  • Must maintain an up to date immunization record including COVID19 vaccination series, annual influenza and TB screening
